DESCRIPTION:Warm up for the holiday season with your neighbours at the Fieldhouse!  The Crichton Community Council will be welcoming the community at the annual Holiday Lights Gathering on Saturday November 30th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. \nListen to festive music performances by the Christchurch Cathedral Choirs and the New Edinburgh Choir. \nHang out by the cozy outdoor fire.  \nMake an ornament for your tree.  \nRide the horse drawn wagon to view the Holiday lights.  \nWarm your soul with some hot chocolate or mulled wine for sale. \nA white bearded man in a red suit all ready to hear gift requests will arrive by horse drawn wagon at 5:00 pm. A picture taking elf with a tripod for your camera will be on hand. \nIn the spirit of giving\, bring finger foods to share with neighbours and non-perishable food items for those who are less fortunate. \nThe Crichton Community Council encourages you to light up the neighbourhood by the end of November.  Residents are put additional effort every year into illuminating their homes\, garages\, fences\, and yards facing the back lanes.  Let’s brighten up the long nights with some bright holiday magic for everyone to enjoy!

DESCRIPTION:The self-guided tour takes place annually on the forth weekend in September. Approximately 20 artists\, who live or work creatively within New Edinburgh\, Ottawa will be opening their studio doors to the public. Locations of the studios will be scattered throughout New Edinburgh and are within walking or biking distance. \nNEST offers the public a unique opportunity to encounter professional and emerging local artists in the studios where they work. The aim of the tour is to: \n\n\nhelp build a vibrant arts community in New Edinburgh by connecting participating artists \n\n\nengage with the public through a unique behind the scenes look into the artists’ studio space and creative processes \n\n\nsupport participating artists by creating an opportunity to personally discuss and promote their work while selling directly to the public. \n\n\nAdmission to the studio tour is free and everyone is welcome. DESCRIPTION:The New Edinburgh Neighbourhood Sale will take place this year on Saturday\, September 21 from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm.  Homeowners\, condominium groups\, religious congregations\, businesses\, non-profit organizations and artists are encouraged to hold sales on private property throughout New Edinburgh. \nThe area around the Fieldhouse will be a busy sales centre since the weekly market coincides with the neighbourhood sale.  The Fieldhouse washrooms and water fountain will be open for everyone’s convenience. \nNeighbourhood sale vendors are encouraged to sell from private lands in front of their own homes.  Unlike past years\, the CCC will not be renting vendor spaces on the lawn of the New Edinburgh Park Fieldhouse to enable those without public facing properties to participate. \nNon-resident vendors and resident vendors without public facing properties are encouraged to sell from the public lands around the Stanley Avenue bend to create a cluster of activity\, in cooperation with the Beechwood Market’s vendors.  Please note that market vendors have a permit for the use of the triangular east lawn bounded by the Fieldhouse\, the asphalt multi-use path and the riverside pedestrian path.  All vendors must respect any applicable bylaws and are wholly liable for any infractions. \nThe Crichton Community Council (CCC) gratefully collects donations to support neighbourhood events and for the purchase of equipment.  Donations of 10 per cent of sale profits earned by neighbourhood vendors is suggested.  Financial contributions can be made by depositing a cheque in the mailbox near the front door of the Fieldhouse\, or online using this link: https://square.link/u/I1bTGw6g

SUMMARY:Chief Pinesi Day
DESCRIPTION:Chief Pinesi Day is held annually on July 1 in New Edinburgh park to celebrate the Algonquin Anishinaabe history of the area. It is an opportunity for learning and reconciliation. \nThe event is led by the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation and begins with a sacred fire at 8 am\, followed by a land tour beginning at 9:30. There will also be a smudging ceremony\, drumming\, dancing and singing. \n2024 will be different from the previous years. Chief Pinesi Day will be the culmination of the Oka to Ottawa: Pinesi Paddle starting on 25 June. Paddlers\, including descendants of Chief Pinesi\, Algonquins\, other indigenous people and settlers will reach Governor Bay below Rideau Hall about 11 AM and make their way along the portage trail to the park\, where they will join the festivities and share their experiences along the 154 km 6-day paddle. \nChief Pinesi Day is organized by the Kichi Sibi Trails group in partnership with the Crichton Community Council and the New Edinburgh Community Alliance. \nFor the most up-to-date information on the event\, please visit the kichi sibi trails website.

SUMMARY:Jeremy Fisher - Adult Oriented Evening Concert at the Fieldhouse (CCC)
DESCRIPTION:Jeremy Fisher plays two concerts – a youth oriented afternoon show and an adult oriented evening show – at the New Edinburgh Park Fieldhouse (203 Stanley Avenue\, Ottawa) on Saturday\, June 1 \nDoors open at 7:00 p.m.. Music at 8:00 p.m.. The show will run for approximately 90 minutes with one intermission. \nTickets are available for $35 from: Eventbrite (https://Jeremy-Fisher-evening.eventbrite.ca) \nTickets are general admission. There are only 75 seats in the venue. This event will sell out. Come early to claim a seat\, then wet your whistle before the show. Standing room is available at the back of the room\, near the bar. \nLicensed drinks and snacks will be available. \nThe Rideau River East Multi Use Pathway runs past the front door. A bus stop for OC Traspo route 9 is about 250 m from the venue. On street parking is available. \nPlan to spend some time in the public spaces that surround the venue. Walk along the the Rideau River trail to Rideau Falls. Walk back to the venue past 24 Sussex and Rideau Hall. Climb\, slide or swing on the play structures. Have a meal or a drink on Beechwood Avenue before or after the show.  Saturday\, June 1 is the first day of the Beechwood Market that happens in New Edinburgh Park from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. right outside the Fieldhouse. \nJeremy Fisher is a 4-time JUNO-nominated folk-pop singer-songwriter based in Ottawa. He has released 6 studio albums and his music has been featured on radio\, in film (The Big Year\, Our Idiot Brother)\, commercials (Volkswagen\, American Airlines)\, and as main title TV themes (Disney\, Global). Over the last 20 years Jeremy has toured the world and shared the stage with artists such as Alanis Morissette\, Blue Rodeo and Indigo Girls. \nHe is a co-creator\, songwriter and voice actor for the CBC animated series Jeremy and Jazzy\, a show about how feelings become songs\, songs become stories\, and music\, friendship\, and collaboration create joy. \n  \n \n  \nThis event is proudly presented by the Crichton Community Council (CCC)\, a volunteer organization that serves Ottawa’s New Edinburgh neighbourhood and the surrounding community. All proceeds from this initiative are used in support of future community events and for the purchase of equipment. \nSince 1974 the CCC has worked to enhance New Edinburgh’s sense of community and foster an inclusive spirit among residents. The CCC acts as the steward of New Edinburgh Park and the Fieldhouse – the hub of the neighbourhood – on behalf of the City of Ottawa\, in the interest of New Edinburgh residents.
