SUMMARY:New Edinburgh Neighbourhood Sale (CCC)
DESCRIPTION:The New Edinburgh Neighbourhood Sale will take place this year on Saturday\, September 21 from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm.  Homeowners\, condominium groups\, religious congregations\, businesses\, non-profit organizations and artists are encouraged to hold sales on private property throughout New Edinburgh. \nThe area around the Fieldhouse will be a busy sales centre since the weekly market coincides with the neighbourhood sale.  The Fieldhouse washrooms and water fountain will be open for everyone’s convenience. \nNeighbourhood sale vendors are encouraged to sell from private lands in front of their own homes.  Unlike past years\, the CCC will not be renting vendor spaces on the lawn of the New Edinburgh Park Fieldhouse to enable those without public facing properties to participate. \nNon-resident vendors and resident vendors without public facing properties are encouraged to sell from the public lands around the Stanley Avenue bend to create a cluster of activity\, in cooperation with the Beechwood Market’s vendors.  Please note that market vendors have a permit for the use of the triangular east lawn bounded by the Fieldhouse\, the asphalt multi-use path and the riverside pedestrian path.  All vendors must respect any applicable bylaws and are wholly liable for any infractions. \nThe Crichton Community Council (CCC) gratefully collects donations to support neighbourhood events and for the purchase of equipment.  Donations of 10 per cent of sale profits earned by neighbourhood vendors is suggested.  Financial contributions can be made by depositing a cheque in the mailbox near the front door of the Fieldhouse\, or online using this link: https://square.link/u/I1bTGw6g

SUMMARY:[CANCELLED] Ottawa Marathon Cheering Station (CCC)
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE COURSE BEING CHANGED (NEW EDINBURGH PORTION ELIMINATED) BY THE RACE ORGANIZERS. \nJoin us to welcome thousands of participants in this year’s Ottawa Marathon!  Come to the Cheering Station located on Stanley Avenue\, in front of the Fieldhouse. The New Edinburgh Cheering Station is located just around the bend from the 36 kilometre mark. \nCome and be amazed at the athleticism of the early morning elite runners. Stay on through the morning to support those who are moving at a slower pace. Together\, we’ll energize runners with all kinds of positive encouragement as they head into the challenges of the final 6 kilometres of the marathon: music; sign making; face painting; sidewalk chalk; noise makers; personalized words of encouragement amplified to runners as they pass; coffee and treats for the early risers; freezies and other refreshments later on; indoor public washrooms on site. \n\n\nThe elite runners should make their first pass by the neighbourhood\, heading west along Sussex\, around 8:25 a.m..  More than 5\,000 runners will follow them. The fastest of the pack will return to the neighbourhood from Rockcliffe via Dufferin Road around 8:45 a.m. (after a quick jaunt out to the airport). \nGive runners some positive memories of the several minutes they’ll spend in New Edinburgh.  Show our neighbourhood’s pride.  Bring your most positive energy to the cheering station at the Fieldhouse.  Loud words of encouragement\, noise makers\, signs and costumes are all welcome. \nBy 10:00 a.m. all of the elite runners will have long finished the race\, but those that remain on course need your support!  Given that most people run a marathon in about 4.5 hours\, at about 10:45 a.m. the hordes will be passing the cheering station on Stanley Avenue . \nThe last 6 km of a marathon are the most difficult for many people.  Let’s rally to raise the spirits of all participants\, many of whom may be in the midst of one of the most difficult challenges they have ever undertaken. \nMore information about the Ottawa Marathon can be found here: https://www.runottawa.ca/races-and-events/ottawa-marathon
