DESCRIPTION:The New Edinburgh Bike Day event is back! \nJoin our community of people who love to bike on Saturday\, May 2nd from 9:30am -1:00pm on a closed section of Stanley Avenue and inside the New Edinburgh Park Fieldhouse. \nBike sale starting at 10 am: Buy or sell a used bicycle (or other non motorized wheeled thing… scooter\, trailer) with the help of a volunteer. 10% of all proceeds to support the CCC.\nBikes for sale should be dropped off at the Fieldhouse on Friday\, May 1st between noon and 7:00 pm for pricing. Sellers can opt to donate unsold bikes to Vélo Vanier. \nBike show and tell starting at 10:30 am: View the bicycles on display at the bike show & tell.\nTalk to the proud owners of different kinds of bikes and hear about their experiences … or bring your own bike to show off. Learn about the joy of electric cargo bikes and the rental services offered by Let’s Go Cargo! \nKidical Mass Bike Ride at 10am: Participate in a family-friendly bike ride around the neighbourhood led by Kidical Mass (All children participating must be accompanied by an adult). \nFull Cycle adjustments starting at 10 am: Have your bicycle checked and adjusted on site at no cost by a Full Cycle mechanic.  (First come first served. Repairs can be scheduled at a later date.) \nShowing of the award-winning film MOTHERLOAD starting at 11:30 am: This film captures a new mother’s quest to understand the increasing isolation and disconnection of modern life\, its planetary impact\, and how cargo bikes could be an antidote. \nBike Café: Baked goods\, coffee\, and drinks available for sale all throughout. DESCRIPTION:The Crichton Community Council in New Edinburgh invites you to the New Edinburgh Plant Sale on Saturday May 9th\, 2026 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at New Edinburgh Park at 203 Stanley Avenue\, Ottawa. \nFor more than 20 years New Edinburgh residents have purchased their plants on the Fieldhouse’s front lawn the Saturday before Mother’s Day. \nThe Crichton Community Council will be selling unique hanging baskets and planters from Les Serres Oli-Ève.  Proceeds support neighbourhood events and community initiatives\, as well as for the purchase of equipment for public use. \nFerme Lève-Tot will be selling edible plants for your gardens and answering questions about Community Supported Agriculture. \nProponents of a proposed community garden in New Edinburgh Park will be on site to discuss this initiative with you and to receive your input. \nThe CCC will be recruiting kids to help remove undesirable plants from the park’s flower bed.  A few holes need to be dug for new trees to be planted in the park.  Bring your kids\, some small shovels and gloves! \n*** \nThe CCC is a volunteer organization that provides seasonal programs and ongoing community service in New Edinburgh. Since its establishment in 1974\, the CCC has worked to enhance New Edinburgh’s sense of community by activating the public spaces New Edinburgh Park on the bank of the Rideau River. The CCC acts as the steward of the New Edinburgh Park Fieldhouse and the surrounding public spaces\, on behalf of the City of Ottawa\, in the interest of New Edinburgh residents.

DESCRIPTION:7:30 pm    Good Ol’ Canadian Park Party\n9:30 pm    Fireworks Display \nFinish your July 1 celebrations in New Edinburgh Park with a park party and a neighbourhood scale fireworks display close to home.  (Alternatively you could head off to LeBreton Flats to celebrate with 50\,000 of your closest friends.) \nWear your red and white (…or other colours that celebrate the diversity of our country).  Wave your flag.  Bring a snack\, a blanket and some bug repellant. \n\n\n\nVisit the licensed kitchen bar inside the Fieldhouse for free frozen treats.  A variety of refreshments (featuring beer)\, as well as some very basic snacks will be available for purchase. \nA collection of audio and video Canadiana will be played on the playground side of the Fieldhouse. \nFireworks will be launched from the gravel infield of the baseball diamond. Please view the display from the outfield. \nThis event may be postponed or cancelled due to inclement weather.

DESCRIPTION:The New Edinburgh Neighbourhood Sale will take place this year on Saturday\, September 19 from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm.  Homeowners\, condominium groups\, religious congregations\, businesses\, non-profit organizations and artists are encouraged to hold sales on private property throughout New Edinburgh. \nThe area around the Fieldhouse will be a busy sales centre since the weekly market coincides with the neighbourhood sale.  The Fieldhouse washrooms and water fountain will be open for everyone’s convenience. \nNeighbourhood sale vendors are encouraged to sell from private lands in front of their own homes.  Unlike past years\, the CCC will not be renting vendor spaces on the lawn of the New Edinburgh Park Fieldhouse to enable those without public facing properties to participate. \nNon-resident vendors and resident vendors without public facing properties are encouraged to sell from the public lands around the Stanley Avenue bend to create a cluster of activity\, in cooperation with the Beechwood Market’s vendors.  Please note that market vendors have a permit for the use of the triangular east lawn bounded by the Fieldhouse\, the asphalt multi-use path and the riverside pedestrian path.  All vendors must respect any applicable bylaws and are wholly liable for any infractions. \nThe Crichton Community Council (CCC) gratefully collects donations to support neighbourhood events and for the purchase of equipment.  Donations of 10 per cent of sale profits earned by neighbourhood vendors is suggested.  Financial contributions can be made by depositing a cheque in the mailbox near the front door of the Fieldhouse\, or online using this link: https://square.link/u/I1bTGw6g

DESCRIPTION:Warm up for the holiday season with your neighbours at the Fieldhouse!  The Crichton Community Council will be welcoming the community at the annual Holiday Lights Gathering on Saturday November 28th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. \nListen to festive music performances by the Christchurch Cathedral Choirs and the New Edinburgh Choir. \nHang out by the cozy outdoor fire.  \nMake an ornament for your tree.  \nRide the horse drawn wagon to view the Holiday lights.  \nWarm your soul with some hot chocolate or mulled wine for sale. \nA white bearded man in a red suit all ready to hear gift requests will arrive by horse drawn wagon at 5:00 pm. A picture taking elf with a tripod for your camera will be on hand. \nIn the spirit of giving\, bring finger foods to share with neighbours and non-perishable food items for those who are less fortunate. \nThe Crichton Community Council encourages you to light up the neighbourhood by the end of November.  Residents are put additional effort every year into illuminating their homes\, garages\, fences\, and yards facing the back lanes.  Let’s brighten up the long nights with some bright holiday magic for everyone to enjoy!
